Emptiness is...

when no song tells your story.
when there is no story to tell someone.
when there is no one to hear.
when being heard makes no difference.
when different is still the same everyday.
when everyday is a continuous sleepless night.
when the sleepless transcend into day dreams.
when day dreams become distant melodies.
when melodies become discrete solitary tones.
when solitude is abhorred yet welcome.
when welcome is but a word on doormats.
when doormats neglect their greeting.
when greetings are but songs on holiday nights.
when no song tells your story...
